In this video we create an Elements account, verify the email address, copy the install script from the welcome thread, and install Elements from the terminal in VS Code. ### 1. Sign up Go to [elements.dev/install](https://elements.dev/install). If you are not signed up yet, create an Elements account: 1. Pick a public username, or click **Generate** until you find one you like. 2. Enter your email address and a password. 3. Accept the license agreement and click **Next: verify your email**. ### 2. Verify your email Elements sends you an email with a code. Copy the code, paste it into the form on the install page, and click **Next: get the install script**. ### 3. The welcome thread You land in a private welcome thread with a welcome message and a terminal box holding the install script. The comment box below it goes straight to the founder of Elements, and only he sees it. Ask about any problem with the install, or say what you are building and what you hope to get out of Elements, and we will help you succeed. Writing something is optional. ### 4. Copy the install script Click the copy button on the terminal box. The script is now on your clipboard. ### 5. Run the script in the terminal Paste the script into the terminal in VS Code and press Enter. After a few seconds the terminal shows a green **Ok**, the version it installed, and the next steps for creating your first app: ```bash Terminal cd ~/elements/projects elements create myapp ``` You can run those, or create the app from the Command Palette in VS Code.

Head over to elements.dev/install, and if you're not signed up already, create an Elements account with a public username. If you're not sure what it should be, just click generate until you find one that you like. Fill out your email and password, check the license agreement, and click the Next: Verify your email button. You should receive an email that has a code in it like this. Go ahead and select that code, select Copy, go back to the install page and paste that code into this form input field and click Next to get the install script. That's going to drop you into this private welcome thread where you can chat back and forth privately with me. There's a welcome message here from me and the terminal box where if you click it, that will copy the install script to your clipboard and we will paste that over in Visual Studio Code in a second.

Before we leave this page, notice the comment box down here. If you run into any issues during the installation or you have questions, feel free to ask me here, and only I will see it and I will respond to you. Also, I would love to hear about what you're building and what you're hoping to get out of Elements. If you tell me a bit about that, I can make sure that you are successful. If you don't want to type anything, that's fine as well. Go to the terminal box here, click the Copy button. That will copy this script to your clipboard. Paste the script into the terminal in Visual Studio Code and press Enter. After a few seconds, Elements will be installed and you'll be presented with the green OK state showing that it installed successfully with some instructions on how to create your first application.
