In this video we create an Elements account, verify the email address, copy the install script from the welcome thread, and install Elements from the terminal in VS Code.

1. Sign up

Go to elements.dev/install (opens in a new tab). If you are not signed up yet, create an Elements account:

  1. Pick a public username, or click Generate until you find one you like.
  2. Enter your email address and a password.
  3. Accept the license agreement and click Next: verify your email.

2. Verify your email

Elements sends you an email with a code. Copy the code, paste it into the form on the install page, and click Next: get the install script.

3. The welcome thread

You land in a private welcome thread with a welcome message and a terminal box holding the install script.

The comment box below it goes straight to the founder of Elements, and only he sees it. Ask about any problem with the install, or say what you are building and what you hope to get out of Elements, and we will help you succeed. Writing something is optional.

4. Copy the install script

Click the copy button on the terminal box. The script is now on your clipboard.

5. Run the script in the terminal

Paste the script into the terminal in VS Code and press Enter.

After a few seconds the terminal shows a green Ok, the version it installed, and the next steps for creating your first app:

Terminal
cd ~/elements/projects elements create myapp

You can run those, or create the app from the Command Palette in VS Code.
