Part 4 of 4
The business
The Elements business model is simple: we get paid for the tooling, you own the output. We take great care to reduce lock-in as much as possible. The runtime packages are MIT licensed, and your app runs on plain Node.js. We want to get paid because we make the best build tooling in the world, not because you're trapped.
I hope you guys had a really good time in this guide and you're already imagining all of the applications you can build for yourself or for your business. Before we conclude, just a couple of business items. When you signed up for Elements, you're going to get an email that looks kind of like this. Click the link and it's gonna take you to a private thread between yourself, me and the Elements team.
And you can use this to introduce yourself and let us know what you're doing and how we can help you be successful. Please don't be shy, I really like to talk with everyone, and I hope you do utilize this and send me a message. Lastly, let me tell you a little bit about the Elements business. It's very straightforward.
We get paid for the tooling, not for the output. On the business model itself, when you install Elements, you're going to start a free trial that lasts about 2 weeks. And on that you can develop locally and you can also deploy to any deployment box. When it comes time to purchase, You purchase licenses and when you make your first purchase for $100 a month, you will get two licenses, one for the development machine and one is typically used for a deployment machine, but you can use it as another developer license as well.
For each additional machine that you add, you click the plus and you can get more licenses that way. Most people will probably get by with just 2, and that is fine. It's paid monthly and you can cancel at any time. If you decide to cancel, you can still run your application, the site will not stop, uh, you will just not be able to use the tooling anymore.
It's very important to me that we get paid for building the best tooling in the world for building applications, and not because we've locked you in. I hope you've enjoyed this video, and I really look forward to getting to know you and helping you to build your applications.
